On Sunday 15th
May, for the second year running, the SOUTHERN GSD GROUP, affiliated
to the GSD League of Great Britain, and a founder member of the
GSDL/WUSV British Regional Group, will be having a PUPPY JUNIOR
EVENT, held under WUSV rules. For full aims and objectives of the BRG go to our page on the
www.gsdleague.co.uk
The event
will be held at CARAKRIS KENNELS, 22, Sparrowhall Cottage, Leighton
Road, Edlesborough, Bucks LU6 2ES, by kind permission of Brian &
Carol McMurray
The PUPPY
JUNIOR breed classes are for baby puppies from 4 months old up to 18
months old, with classes for both Standard coats and Long coats.
It’s an
ideal opportunity for training your babies for the ring – you will
be given every encouragement to learn how to show your puppy WUSV
style. With dedicated double handling areas we ensure that our
spectators and competitors alike are protected. Don’t worry about
not having a handler – there will be plenty of people only too
willing to help you. Judged by Craig Rice, GSD League Council
member and handler of several dogs at the German Sieger 2010, Craig
will be keen to help and advise as well as judge the babies. Oh, and
all breed entrants will receive a commemorative medal together with
a personalized grading card.
There are
Junior Handling classes for the Human Juniors too! (GSDs in these
classes are not age restricted) Judged by Linda Barclay of the
Korzwin Kennels with loads of prizes from our primary sponsors,
Arden Grange
To ensure
that the event demonstrates as fully as possible the capabilities of
the GSD, we will also have an opportunity for you to learn about
Schutzhund and practice with Steve Havers of Havers Dog Training
free of charge.
You can earn
your Good Citizen Bronze award here too, with Steve Byfield of the
GSD League judging.
And you can
also get your GSD Breed Surveyed (must be over 18 months) under the
Breed Council scheme – ideal for those planning to enter the Adult
Classes at the upcoming Regional Shows and the British Sieger. Our
surveyor this year is the well respected Terry Hannan of Jonimay
kennels.
Mo Lakin (Mascani
GSDs) will be available to microchip your dog – doesn’t have to be
entered – for the very special price of Ł10
There will
be home made cakes and other refreshments available at reasonable
prices, with a lunch time barbecue. You can support the initiative
through this and the super Tombolas & Raffles that will be taking
place. We would also welcome class sponsors and trade stands.
Charity or Welfare stands are very welcome free of charge.
In short, a
cornucopia of German Shepherd activities for those who enjoy their
dogs. Last year this innovative event attracted an entry of 100
German Shepherds and was deemed to be one of the most enjoyable
shows of the year. We would like to welcome many more this year to
help us bring the fun back into showing your GSD. Spectators –
human and canine – are welcome as long as your dog is healthy and
has been vaccinated. Parking and admission is free.
